A Novel Approach to Live Cell Imaging Using Simultaneous Stimulation on the Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope FV1000

by

Mr Katashi Ishihara

Senior Supervisor International Marketing,

Bioscience Division, Olympus, Japan.

The dual scanning capability of newly introduced FV1000 confocal sheds a 'new light' on live cell imaging by the ability to have simultaneous stimulation and observation.  Examples of how these capabilities affect imaging techniques such as FRAP, caged compounds and PA-GFP/Kaede proteins are presented.  The effect of spectral resolution on un-mixing of spectrally closely matched fluorophores is also presented.
